CLIMBING JACOBS LADDER

Remember that song, “I am Climbing Jacobs Ladder, I am climbing Jacobs Ladder, ……” That song has been popping into my head each time I meet another staircase.

COUNT THEM:

· 40 stairs from street to apartment, usually at least 3 -4 round trips a day = 240 to 320 stairs

· 15 stairs inside the apartment, usually at least 10 round trips a day = 300 stairs

· 50 stairs at the GEM office, at least 2 or 3 round trips a day = 200 to 300 stairs

· TOTAL = 740 to 920 stairs a DAY minimum.

Now add weight, I have to CARRY about 10 lbs of computer equipment with me to the Office.

Now add one or two grocery bags picked up on the way home,

I have at least 1 hour of required walking on a normal day to get where I need to go. Then there’s recreational walking. Before Germany I didn’t know walking was a “recreation”. What a difference an ocean makes.

I used to talk about exercise. If you’re a little on the fluffy side, as I am, you feel impelled to talk about the gym you are a member of, especially when other less fluffy people are in your circle of conversation. Doesn’t matter if you’ve only used it twice this year. YOU KNOW THE BUZZ WORDS….power cycling, stairmaster, pilate class….

Now my exercise buzz words are Stairs, Stairs, Stairs.

Some of you wanted to know what my living conditions are....they are grand. here's some photos.
