MISSION PROGRESS REPORT

My area of responsibility is the course on Educational Foundations, how to develop and teach bible studies. I am taking an existing course that has already been developed for a traditional classroom setting, and modifying it to fit within an “internet framework”. That involves inputting textbooks and other reference material on the internet, as well as all assignments, lesson plans, and tools for the students to discuss electronically with each other and their teacher.

I know that sounds easy….. sometimes it is a simple cut and paste job, but most of the time it is a “cut and paste, reformat, reword, save changes, review, edit, ask someone else….”how can this be both an assignment and a reading reference”.

Forget about the workout my body has been taking on the stairs, it is nothing compared to the jumping jacks going on between the two hemispheres of my brain. I do appreciate all your prayers. Without them, I could not have accomplished what I already have in the short amount of time I’ve been here. In the last two weeks I have:

1. learned how to use a new software program “Moodle”,
2. have an understanding how to take a complete manual course, and develop it into a living, breathing, interactive module,
3. have learned some german,
4. learned how to blog,
5. have continued to supply computer support for some of the local missionaries,
6. learned a whole new set of road signs and driving rules
7. and I now know how to turn off lights, save water, and take out the trash. Freeman would be proud.
