Sunday Go To Meeting Day

SUNDAY GO TO MEETING DAY

Picture to the right, is the street I live on.

We walked a few blocks to church this morning, passing others on their way worship. We nodded our heads at each other and said “Hallo”. Sunday is a “quiet” day here in Germany. Stores are closed, people out walking, some with dogs, some with families. They take a day to renew their spirit and relationship with each other.

I remember my last Sunday at home. I woke up early to do a few extra chores in the morning, hurried to church, picked up fast food for lunch, went to the store to purchase some clothing items, stopped at the grocery store on the way home, put away groceries, fed the dogs and cats, ran the vacuum, had a bowl of cereal for dinner because I was too exhausted to cook, and plopped down in front of the TV for a couple of hours until I went to bed. I really know how to utilize every minute of my day of rest!

I have decided I like the German’s interpretation – and I am bringing “quiet” day with me when I return home.

Sunday Services were conducted in German. The songs were displayed on a screen above, much like the churches at home. Main difference – different language! I rather enjoyed it, though. I could see the words and hear how to pronounce them. Pretty soon I was singing in German right along with everyone else. I wish my memory skills were as acute as my pronunciation skills.
