I received a letter from Vodaphone DSL service, “Your service will be turned on September 10th”. When the tenth came and went, and DSL was still not activated, I called to find out why. There was definitely a language barrier, but I completely understood that Sept. 10th was just a “suggested” date.
After many calls, and requests that they schnell it up, German for ASAP, no progress had been made. So a wonderful lady, Sylvia, who speaks a little English and REAL DESCRIPTIVE German, went with me to the local Vodaphone Mobile phone store. I bowed down and cried
“Bitte, Bitte, helfen Bitte” or Please Help Me! Sylvia took over from there, and the Vodaphone agent said it was not his job. He was mobile not residence. Between my crying and Sylvia’s descriptive german, he finally succumbed and said he would try. He made several phone calls, talked expressively to someone on the other end…….after about 30 minutes, we had our answer. We were told to go home and reset our wireless DSL unit, and within 24 hours it should be hooked up. I bowed down several times, told him he was a king, and I would bring him chocolate chip cookies. We went home immediately to start this process, and within 15 minutes I had phone service, DSL and TWO calls from Vodaphone Tech Support and Customer Service. I don’t know what he said to them, but he must have lit a bonfire under someone’s britches! Hope he enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies as much as I am enjoying being connected to the world again.
Now, blogging can begin again.
